Hield: The lady at the desk was friendly and the hostel was at a good location and the price was very reasonable. The matrasses and pillows beneath the sheets and pillowcases seemed clean. The other good things were aspects of every other hostel I've ever been in: meeting and talking with other travellers from around the globe and exchanging experiences.

Niet leuk vond: I'm really not a difficult person and fair is fair: for only 10 euro a night you get what you pay for. It's just that many of the things that bothered me at this hostel are so easily fixed. How hard is it to put a simple eye-hook closing system on the doors of the toilets so you don't have to keep the door shut with one hand while seated? Seriously, if I would have stayed there longer I might have screwed it in myself. Or hand out blankets that are people-shaped instead of a 1x1m square? Or put something (a little ladder? a chair?) in the room so you can get in and out of the top bunk bed without having to use the person sleeping in the bed below you as a springboard? Especially since this hostel attracts a lot of older travellers! Or maybe not change the sheets and pillowcases but encouraging your guests to do it themselves by giving them clean ones? Or not taking new arrivals' passports even though you have their creditcard details and they have already paid? Everybody had free access from the street to all of the rooms (except after 24.00, when the doors closed). Crete is generally very safe, but having a locker to put your stuff in while you were out would contribute to everybodies' sense of wellbeing in this hostel. Finally, much has been written about this hostel being dirty - specifically the shower and toilets. That depends on the moment. I stayed here for two nights at the start of my trip and those facilities were pretty minging. However, when I returned three weeks later for one night they were allright. Maybe they are cleaned every few days and I got lucky? In that case cleaning more often can be added to the above list of easy remedies. So, all in all not terrible, but it could easily be so much better!
